‘ilio-holo-kai’ is the name the Hawaiian’s gave these special seals.
It means ‘the dog that runs in the sea’. They are also called the
Hawaiian Monk Seals – monk because they live alone like monks
do. These seals only live in Hawaiʻi, and because of people, they are
