UFLI Foundations is a comprehensive, explicit, and systematic phonics program aligned with the Science of Reading (SoR).

Developed by the University of Florida Literacy Institute, it aligns with evidence-based practices for teaching decoding and encoding (spelling) to K–2 students or for intervention:

• Evidence-Based Approach: It is designed around the “Simple View of Reading,” focusing on developing decoding skills through direct, structured instruction.
• Systematic and Sequential: The curriculum provides a carefully designed scope and sequence, ensuring students build foundational skills in a logical, step-by-step manner.
• Multisensory Techniques: UFLI incorporates visual, auditory, and kinesthetic activities to engage students and solidify learning.
• Key Components: The program covers phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and word study (encoding/spelling).
• UFLI is widely recognized in the education field as a practical, research-aligned tool for fostering foundational literacy.
